I am back // New Semester

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted on here. A lot has happened since - I finished the Fall '14 semester with really good grades and cool projects to show my family. I was also hired as the Arts & Entertainment Assistant Editor for our school newspaper - The Lumberjack. I am so happy to be working for the paper, I am finally doing what I love and it makes me even more certain on what I want to do when I graduate. Other than being hired (Yay job!), the university was closed for Winter Break - a much needed winter break. I loved my fall semester, but school was getting hectic. Assignments left and right!

This winter break for me was different than others. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed being at home with my family and having days that required NOTHING from me but all winter break I was worrying and stressing. My grandma Connie had been very sick and the Doctors told us she did not have much time to live. I lost my grandma Connie this winter break and It hit me so hard. I broke down for many days alongside my stepdad, mom and sister. I am just now learning how to deal with it. The only thing that makes me feel better is that I know my grandma Connie is watching down on all my family and smiling because she is finally free of pain and with her husband.

I am now in the spring semester at school and the first two weeks have been great. I did not expect to be as busy as I am, but I am very happy I am so busy. "Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life," I completely agree. I have loved being staff at The Lumberjack paper. I have loved being reunited with my two best friends(roommates as well) and I have loved being at a point in my life where I finally do not have any questions.

I am not sure as to how often I will be posting here - the only thing I am certain of is that I want to continue posting on here. Even if the writing here is only written and READ by me. Writing is what I love to do and writing about my life makes it even more fun.

Here we go, DoseofDre '15.

Abuelito Gabino // 101 years-old

This beautiful, amazing man is my Grandpa Gabino and he is 101 years old. His life has been an incredible, inspiring story that I will forever cherish. He has taught me so much, and has been by my side since I can remember. The love he has for his children, and grandchildren is immense, he has so much love to go around. At his age, you can imagine there are complications - your body begins to weaken, your memory begins to fade and even through all of this he still manages to keep a smile on his face. He is my hero and my rock, my best friend.
For a couple of months now, my abuelito has been in a health center where they are able to watch him all hours of every day. He had a fall and broke his ribs, and until they are healed, he cannot go home. It hurts me to see him in there, I know that all he wants is to go home, sit on his big green chair, watch his spanish tv and snooze. He is staying strong and I am so thankful for that.
I love you so much abuelito <3

Autumn - Halloween Festivities

What a wonderful weekend it was, celebrating autumn and halloween fun with some great friends. Carving pumpkins was an absolute blast, my friends and I got together, enjoyed some festive beer and created some pretty decent (if not amazing, haha) pumpkin designs.

What a beautiful wonderful month October is. Crisp cool weather, comfy sweaters, hot drinks, halloween movies, I love it all!

San Pedro Wedding

This past weekend I traveled to the beautiful, surprisingly still very hot, Los Angeles CA. My cousin Bobby was getting married to his beautiful wife Christine and I could not miss it. I was so happy to be home with my family, and seeing my mom, sister and stepdad was just what I needed. School has been a little hectic these pact few weeks so getting away for a weekend felt so nice. Pictured above are my mom, sister and I. I did a little photoshoot with them.

Crisp Sunburnt Leaves

"I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
Welcome to one of the most beautiful months and time of the year. Fall is here and the trees are changing, outfits are getting cozier and leaves are softly falling on the ground. Fall in Flagstaff is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. I am so lucky to be surrounded by autumn dancing in the breeze, and the bright beautiful fall tones all over. Fall is my favorite season of the year, lets see what this season has in store.

What is your favorite season?

Flagstaff Skies Pt. 2

As the seasons change, so do the skies here in Flagstaff. Whether is is a sunrise, sunset, or even during the middle of the day, the skies here never disappoint. I take a look at my camera roll and all I see is picture after picture of these beautiful skies. I don't want to be obnoxious and post sky pictures all the time, but sometimes I cannot resist.

Neighborhood Walks

I have grown to love taking walks around our new neighborhood. I had been so used to considering my  'walks' as the walks I would take from my on-campus housing to my classes. Moving off-campus and being able to be in a neighborhood setting, surrounded by all types of people has really made me feel so much better. Being able to enjoy my privacy, and not constantly having noise from outside has been the nicest by far. This new house that I am in has made me feel so comfortable, and I am so lucky to share it with my two best friends. Not to mention we have incredible, beautiful green trees all over! And trails that take you to beautiful places!
